Massive 520% range for SRAM XPLR
The Garbaruk 13-Speed GEN2.0 XPLR Cassette (XD/XDR) delivers a huge 10–52T range for SRAM XPLR drivetrains, giving gravel riders true bailout gearing without ditching their 13-speed setup. It's lightweight, CNC-machined and built for real-world terrain.
🚴 Why You’ll Love It
There’s a point where standard XPLR gearing just runs out. You’re halfway up a steep fire road, legs are cooked, and you’re wishing for one more gear... and that's exactly where the Garbaruk 13sp XPLR cassette comes in.
With a full 10–52T range (520%), the Garbaruk XPLR is your secret weapon to transform your drivetrain from 'capable at gravel' to 'excels in all terrain'. You get MTB-level climbing ability without abandoning the simplicity and efficiency of your XPLR setup. Who needs a mullet conversion or full drivetrain swap? Not you!
This cassette is classic Garbaruk: solving a real problem with proper engineering. It uses 12 chromoly steel sprockets for durability and a replaceable 7075 aluminium large cog to keep the weight down. GEN2.0 updates bring refined tooth profiles and shift ramps, giving you smoother shifting under load and better chain control, even when you’re grinding up something steep and loose.
Now, this isn't a road cassette. The jumps are a little bigger and it rewards riders who actually use their gears. However, if your riding involves long climbs, rough terrain or steep pitches, this cassette makes a huge difference.
More range, less compromise and a drivetrain that finally matches the terrain you’re riding.
👤 Who This Cassette Is For
- All-day gravel riders: Big rides, mixed terrain and long climbs where standard XPLR gearing feels limiting
- Steep terrain riders: Anyone tackling punchy climbs, loose fire roads or long ascents who needs a true bailout gear
- Drivetrain tinkerers: Riders building optimised or custom XPLR setups who want more range without going full MTB
- Performance-focused riders: Those willing to trade slightly larger gear jumps for significantly better climbing ability
If you mostly ride flat roads or want tight, road-style cadence steps, this probably isn’t your cassette. If your rides regularly push your gearing limits, though, this is exactly what you’ve been looking for.
🌈 Colours & Availability
We always stock black (hey, it goes with everything), but other colours are available via special order.
Features
- 520% Gear Range (10–52T): Massive climbing range without switching to a full MTB drivetrain
- GEN2.0 Shift Refinement: Updated tooth profiles and ramps for smoother, faster shifting under load
- Lightweight Construction: Approx. 345g total weight keeps your build fast and responsive
- Replaceable Aluminium Cog: Largest 52T sprocket can be replaced separately to extend cassette life
- Colour Options Available: Match your drivetrain and build style
Safety note! Running a SRAM RED XPLR 13-speed derailleur with this cassette? You'll need the Garbaruk 13-speed XPLR cage upgrade as the stock RED XPLR carbon cage is too thick to shift properly onto a 52T cog, which could potentially lead to failure during use. Don't risk it — run the duo together so everything works as it should.
Pro Bike Mechanic’s Tip
Take the time to set this up properly, especially the B-gap and chain length. Pair it with a fresh SRAM Flattop chain and you’ll get the best performance straight away.
🚀 Ready to Ride?
Stop running out of gears. The Garbaruk XPLR 13-speed cassette gives you the range to ride anything your legs can handle, without rebuilding your whole drivetrain. Add it to your setup and climb smarter.

FAQs
Q: Will this work with my SRAM XPLR derailleur?
A: Yes — it’s compatible with all 13-speed XPLR derailleurs. Rival and Force XPLR work with the stock cage. RED XPLR requires a Garbaruk derailleur cage upgrade, as the stock carbon cage is too thick to reliably clear the 52T cog.
Q: Do I need to change anything to run a 52T cassette?
A: In most cases, no cage swap is needed (Rival and Force), but setup is important. You’ll need correct B-tension and chain length. RED XPLR is the exception and requires a cage upgrade.
Q: What chain should I use?
A: SRAM Flattop 12- or 13-speed chains are recommended for best shifting performance and compatibility.
Q: Will it fit an XDR freehub?
A: Yes. The cassette is XD-compatible and includes a 1.8mm spacer for use on XDR freehubs.
Q: Is this cassette for everyone?
A: Not really. It’s best suited to riders tackling steep terrain, long gravel climbs, or mixed surfaces where extra range matters more than tight gear spacing. If you mostly ride flat roads, a standard cassette will suit you better.
