Ergon GP5 Grips - Ultimate Ergonomics for Pain-Free Riding

No more numb fingers, sore wrists or hunched shoulders. The Ergon GP5 grips combine German-engineered ergonomics with full-length bar ends to give you all-day comfort, optimal posture and pain-free performance, even on your longest rides.

🚴 Why Choose the Ergon GP5 Grips?

Long distance riding should be fun, not painful. The Ergon GP5 Grips are designed to relieve discomfort and bring the joy back into your cycling. Developed in Germany with the input of doctors and physiotherapists, these grips are more than just comfortable: they’re medically informed and officially certified as back-friendly.

The key to their magic lies in the wing-shaped design and full-size bar ends. By increasing the contact surface area, the GP5s distribute pressure more evenly across your hands, alleviating stress on the sensitive ulnar nerve and reducing the risk of finger numbness and wrist pain. Combined with multiple hand positions and built-in ergonomic shaping, these grips help keep your wrists in a neutral position and your posture more natural, something that’s especially important during longer rides when fatigue can set in.

Each grip is made with Ergon’s exclusive rubber compound, developed using medical-grade white oil as the plasticiser. It’s TÜV-certified, UV-stable and manufactured in Germany to the highest standards. Add in a single-bolt clamping system and strong cold-forged aluminium hardware, and you’ve got a grip that’s not only comfortable but also built to last.

For touring cyclists, long-haul commuters or anyone dealing with pain or fatigue on the bike, the GP5 grips offer a true upgrade in both comfort and control. Get ready to ride further, feel better and finish stronger.

Features

  • Full-Size Bar Ends: More hand positions mean less fatigue and more comfort on long rides
  • Nerve Pressure Relief: Wing-shaped grips distribute pressure across a wider area, reducing stress on the ulnar nerve and reducing numb fingers
  • Scientifically-Backed Ergonomics: Supports proper wrist alignment, easing strain on nerves and tendons – no more tingling or pain
  • Tested Back-Friendly: Approved by orthopaedic experts and physiotherapists for reducing back strain while riding
  • German Engineering & Materials: UV-resistant, medical-grade rubber compound developed and produced exclusively by Ergon in Germany
  • Grippy & Durable: Rubber inlays in bar ends and specially textured surfaces offer confident grip and pleasing tactile feel
  • Rock-Solid Safety: Cold-forged aluminium clamp and single-bolt fastening keep the grip secure, even under load – no twisting or slipping

Pro Bike Mechanic’s Tip

If you're multi-day touring, rotate between hand positions regularly and don't forget to use the bar ends. This practice keeps circulation flowing and fatigue at bay.

FAQs

Q: Are the Ergon GP5 grips compatible with carbon handlebars?
A: Unfortunately, no - the GP5's clamping system isn’t approved for carbon bars. Stick to aluminium or steel handlebars to keep things safe, secure and warranty-friendly.

Q: What’s the difference between the Ergon GP5 grips and the Ergon GP4 grips?
A: Both grips offer the same ergonomic wing design and comfort benefits, but the GP5 features a longer bar end for more hand positions and leverage, ideal for touring and long commutes. Think of it as the deluxe upgrade for all-day adventures.

Q: How do I know whether I need a Small or Large Ergon GP5 grip?
A: Simply, it depends on your glove size. If you wear small gloves (e.g. sizes 6.5 to 8.5), go for Small. If you’re over that, Large will give you a better fit and control. It’s all about matching the grip to your hand for maximum comfort.
