SQLab 60X Ergowave Active 2.2 Saddle – Latest Generation Comfort for All-Mountain, Enduro & e-MTB

The SQLab 60X Ergowave Active 2.2 is the newest evolution of SQLab’s best-selling trail saddle. Updated with a shorter nose and customisable comfort system, it’s designed for riders who demand modern ergonomics, all-day support and maximum control across technical terrain.

🚴 Why Upgrade to the SQLab 60X Ergowave Active 2.2?

The 2.2 takes everything riders loved about the 60X 2.1 saddle and refines it for today’s all-mountain and enduro bikes. The nose has been shortened by around 2 cm for greater mobility on steep climbs and dynamic descents, while still retaining the proven Ergowave shape that supports sit bones and relieves pressure on sensitive areas.

With the Active 2.1 system carried over, the saddle moves subtly with your pelvis to reduce strain and boost pedalling efficiency. As with all Active saddles, you also get your choice of three interchangeable elastomers (soft, medium, hard) so you can fine-tune the flex to match your riding style. Add in SQLab’s grippy rear material and reinforced edges, and you’ve got a saddle that’s trail-ready and built to last.

Key Features

  • Shorter Nose for More Freedom: About 2 cm shorter than the 2.1, giving you extra clearance on technical terrain
  • Ergowave Step Shape: Raised rear section and mid-saddle dip support sit bones, reduce perineal pressure and keep you planted on climbs
  • Built for the Trail: CrMo hollow rails, impact-resistant microfiber cover, reinforced edges and Superlight foam padding
  • Secure Grip: Textured rear keeps you steady during hard pedalling and steep ascents
  • Precise Fit Options: Available in different widths for correct sit-bone support and pressure distribution

Pro Bike Mechanic’s Tip

If you liked the 6OX 2.1 saddle but wanted more clearance on steep drops or technical switchbacks, the 2.2 is the upgrade you’ve been waiting for. Pair it with a dropper post and you’ll feel the benefit of the shorter nose straight away.

FAQs

Q: Can I use the SQLab 60X Ergowave Active 2.2 on my e-bike?
A: Definitely. The 60X Ergowave Active 2.2 is designed for enduro, all-mountain and e-MTB use, and it’s rated Category 5 (the toughest). The reinforced edges and durable cover mean it handles the added demands of e-bike riding with ease.

Q: How does the Active system work on the 2.2?
A: The 2.2 keeps SQLab’s proven Active 2.1 technology, which allows the saddle to flex subtly with your pelvis for more efficient pedalling and reduced spinal stress. The difference is that the 2.2 now comes with three elastomers (soft, medium, hard), so you can customise the stiffness to your preference.

Q: Will this saddle help reduce numbness or discomfort?
A: Yes — that’s the core of SQLab’s design philosophy. The Ergowave profile, shortened nose and stepped rear work together to relieve pressure in sensitive areas and keep weight supported on your sit bones, reducing numbness on long or technical rides.

Q: How do I choose the right size of SQLab saddle?
A: SQLab sizing is based on two things: 1) your sit-bone width and 2) your riding posture.

Start by measuring your sit bones at home with a piece of corrugated cardboard on a hard surface (this quick video shows you how: Watch here).

Once you have your sit bone width, add the margin that matches your riding style:

    Riding Position Description Adjustment
Aggressive Low, stretched-out race position Sit bone width = saddle size
Moderate Slightly upright, endurance/all-road or trail position Sit bone width + 1 cm
Upright Relaxed trekking or city-style riding position Sit bone width + 2–3 cm

The more upright you ride, the wider your saddle should be, since your sit bones rotate outward as your posture becomes more vertical. Choosing the right width ensures pressure-free comfort and proper support on every ride.
