White Industries CLD Front Hub 12x100mm Thru Axle 28H Black

A featherweight, American-made Center Lock disc front hub: simple, smooth and built to be rebuilt. At just 146g, the White Industries CLD Front Hub proves that light doesn't have to mean fragile. Hand-built in California, it's the clean, quiet, long-lasting front hub your next wheelset deserves.

Why Choose a White Industries CLD Front Hub?

The White Industries CLD Front Hub is a centre-lock disc front hub for road, gravel, mountain and touring bikes. This version is drilled for 28 spokes, comes with a 12x100mm thru axle, and is finished in black.

🚴 Why Choose White Industries' CLD Front Hub?

The CLD front traces back to the original White Industries titanium front hub from 1992, and three decades of real-world riding have refined it into something simple, durable and dependable.

Like all White Industries products, every hub is machined, assembled and inspected in their Petaluma, California workshop. Two Enduro sealed cartridge bearings in a 6061-T6 aluminium shell with adjustable preload keep the CLD rolling smoothly as you clock up the kms. When the time comes for some maintenance, it's also easy to service and rebuild, no complicated tooling required.

The hub ships with one axle, but you can swap between 9mm QR, 12mm thru and 15mm thru configurations, so it can move with you from bike to bike. (Note: some changes need a separate axle kit.)

Polished then anodised, with machine-engraved logos, the CLD Front Hub looks as good as it performs. If you're building a wheelset, match it with the CLD Rear Hub for the ultimate look.

Features

  • Center Lock disc mount: Fast, secure rotor installation on the Shimano centre lock (c'mon; we can't use US spelling all the time) standard
  • 146g weight: A genuinely light front hub that's built for real-world riding
  • Two Enduro sealed bearings: Smooth rolling and low maintenance
  • Adjustable preload: Easy to tune and rebuild with basic tools
  • Swappable axles: Convert between 9mm QR, 12mm thru and 15mm thru standards
  • Made in the USA: CNC-machined, assembled and inspected in Petaluma, California

Pro Bike Mechanic's Tip

The CLD front doesn't include a rotor lockring. On a 12mm thru axle you can use either an internally or externally splined lockring (such as a White Industries Center Lock lockring). On 9mm QR and 15mm thru configurations you need an externally splined lockring. Check which you have before you order.

FAQs

Does the CLD front hub come with a lockring?
No. Center Lock rotors need a lockring, which is sold separately. We stock White Industries Center Lock lockrings, so you can add one to your order.

Will it fit my fork?
This version suits forks with 100mm spacing and a 12mm thru axle, which covers most modern road, gravel and mountain disc bikes. The axle can be swapped to 9mm QR or 15mm thru if you need it.

Can I swap the axle later?
Yes. Some swaps need only a tool, while others need a new axle kit. It's not a complicated job and doesn't require special tools.

Is there a Boost version?
Yes, the CLD+ is made for Boost 15mm x 110mm. The standard CLD front can also be converted with a separate axle part.

CLD or XMR: which is better?
Neither. They share the same internals. The difference is the rotor mount: Center Lock on the CLD, 6-bolt on the XMR. The XMR also has larger flanges with window cut-outs, if you prefer that look.

How often should I service it?
Check the bearings monthly by spinning the axle and feeling for roughness. In wet climates, a little extra water-resistant grease on the outer bearing faces helps protect them.

Can I get a different colour or spoke count?
You sure can. Email info@bmcr.com.au and we'll arrange a special order.
