White Industries T47 Bottom Bracket Sleeve Internal and External

The little sleeve that keeps everything off your crank spindle. Modern frames love to route cables, wires and hydraulic hoses through the bottom bracket shell, which puts them right next to a spinning crank spindle. The White Industries T47 Bottom Bracket Sleeve sits between the cups and keeps everything where it belongs.

Why Choose a White Industries T47 Bottom Bracket Sleeve?

The White Industries T47 Bottom Bracket Sleeve is a machined aluminium sleeve made for White Industries internal and external T47 bottom brackets. It fits between the two cups, shielding your spindle from internally routed cables, wires or hydraulic lines.

🚴 Why You'll Love This White Industries BB Sleeve

White Industries made the sleeve to go with their own T47 bottom brackets, so it's a precise match rather than a generic spacer. It's machined from 6061-T6 aluminium in their Petaluma, California workshop, then anodised black and laser engraved.

Each end of the sleeve plugs into a bottom bracket cup with an O-ring seal. This does double-duty: it stops cables or hoses rubbing on the spindle, and it helps keep debris from reaching the bearings from inside the frame.

If your frame routes brake hoses, wires or cables through the bottom bracket shell, this is the tidy way to protect them. It's also a cheap way to give your bearings a little extra protection.

Grab one of these when you order a White Industries T47 bottom bracket. It pairs with both the internal (86mm and 92mm shell) and external (68mm and 73mm shell) versions.

Features

  • Spindle protection: Keeps internally routed cables, wires and hydraulic lines off your crank spindle
  • O-ring seals: Each end plugs into the cup to help keep debris out of the bearings
  • 6061-T6 aluminium: Machined, anodised black and laser engraved
  • Fits internal and external T47: Made for White Industries T47 bottom brackets, 68mm, 73mm, 86mm and 92mm shells
  • Made in the USA: Machined in Petaluma, California

Pro Bike Mechanic's Tip

If your frame routes a hose, wire or cable through the bottom bracket shell, sort that out before the crank goes on. Each end of the sleeve plugs into a cup with an O-ring, and a little grease on the O-rings helps it seat. Make sure nothing can get caught between the sleeve and the cups.

FAQs

What does a bottom bracket sleeve do?
It sits between the two bottom bracket cups and protects your crank spindle from internally routed cables, wires or hydraulic lines. It also helps keep debris out of the bearings.

Do I need one?
White Industries sell it separately, so it isn't included with their T47 bottom brackets. If your frame routes cables, wires or hoses through the bottom bracket shell, you want one. If it doesn't, it's still a useful extra layer of protection for the bearings.

Which bottom brackets does it fit?
White Industries internal T47 bottom brackets (86mm and 92mm shells) and external T47 bottom brackets (68mm and 73mm shells). It isn't made for other brands, or for White Industries BSA bottom brackets.

Will it work with my BSA bottom bracket?
No. If you're running a threaded BSA shell, you don't need one, and this sleeve won't fit. See our external BSA bottom bracket instead.

Can I use it with another brand's T47 bottom bracket?
No. It's made specifically for White Industries T47 bottom brackets.

Do I need a bottom bracket too?
Yes. The sleeve is an accessory, so you'll need a White Industries T47 bottom bracket as well. We stock the Internal T47 Bottom Bracket.

Does my frame need to be faced before fitting a bottom bracket?
For the best connection between the bottom bracket cups and the frame, we always recommend frame facing. We go into a lot more detail about why it's so important in our facing blog post.
